Facilitate the peaceful transfer of power to Biden, since Mike Pence accepts the election results. 3. Set a precedent that impeachment still matters and that future defeated Presidents who try to cling to power will be removed. 4. Force Congressional Republicans to take a stand on the record for or against Trump’s post-election conduct. 5. Give any Trump supporters who still refuse to accept the 2020 election an easy-to-understand, undeniably constitutional path out of the Trump cult.
