I'm trying to...cause... a *polite* discussion.

There are those who hate the whole idea of this stream and streams like it. If they don't care for this type of humor, there are other streams. And having this stream keeps other streams mostly free of this type of content. It seems to me that niche streams may have been created for this purpose, and at any rate they serve this purpose well.

Vagabond Souffle, and others, has pointed out that recently some submissions on this stream appear to be be pure exhibitionism without any element of humor. As I recall, this was not always the case.

I'm not bothered by differences in people's tastes, and I do not support forcefeeding everyone the same type of content. That said, there are young folks on this site. Some are reported to be as young as 8. This content is not appropriate for these users. I don't know what can be done about it, but I would rather explore possibilities than end up with a whitewashed site full of dad jokes.

They say "No humor"? There's senseless crap posted all over the site in various streams. I don't see no one giving those users or stream owners a hard time. 😑

I'm a female and I have no problem with the "Boobs" stream. It's very simple, if they don't like the content then just scroll past it. And let everyone post freely using their judgment.

I had no idea this stream was “supposed” to be for funny boobs memes specifically as it is nowhere in the stream description. I know there are those type of memes here (and I make them myself from time to time whenever I think of a clever caption), as well as the pure “sexy” boobs memes and also pictures that highlight female beauty from a more aesthetic perspective.

Bottom-line, all of these kinds of memes involve creativity of some kind and appeal to one or more of our senses. And as long as they comply with site terms, they’re fine. If they don’t match the spirit of the stream for any reason, that is a decision for the stream mods and the stream mods only.

Every “sexy” stream on ImgFlip seems to have its own angle and personality and I love them all for it. I post to most or all of them, and I do think hard about which photos would be most fitting for which stream before posting. Even if I leave the photo uncaptioned, it’s not a willy-nilly decision.

Sounds like some with a negative view of the human body are just trying to shame/Karen those of us who post here into giving up an aspect of our creativity.

I’m not buying it and neither sound anyone else.

I think you make a good point: who says memes have to be humorous? There are certainly some memes on the politics stream that are decidedly not funny. Thought-provoking memes are considered acceptable. And there is a whole stream for "Awesome Pics," that are generally not captioned. It's about the pure asthetics - which can be defined as the appreciation of beauty or art - of the images.

I have no problem with images of breasts, butts, mountains or video games. As a moderator of this stream, I am aware that there are those who do have a problem with the whole stream. I do not want to see those folks prevail upon the site gods to take action to limit or suppress the stream. I would prefer that we exercise some restraint from within rather than be regulated from without.

At the same time, why should we restrain ourselves when the site isn't enforcing it's terms? We haven't violated the terms of the stream, even if some find the content objectionable.

These are just a collection of thoughts rather than any coherent argument or point, but they are things that I think needed to be said.
