That's pretty much how their logic is.

Freedom of speech is sacred. But some people misunderstand what that means. You should be completely free to voice any political opinion regardless of how much that opinion pisses people off and how stupid that opinion might be. But that doesn't necessarily mean name calling and obscenity should be tolerated.
In other words:
●I think Pluto is still a planet & all the scientists that disagree are full of crap! [That's freedom of speech even tho it may not be true or nice.]
●BLEEP u Pluto haters! If you don't respect astronomers, you deserve to die! Imma BLEEP yer fat mom! [This isn't freedom of speech even tho it's still mildly political in nature.]

No thats not what we meant Some of us said we would like to stop racism etc. cus im not gonna name them right now but people where saying thats censorship and takes away freedom of speech

Censorship is always bad because it just drives wrong opinions underground where they do just as much harm and can't be addressed or debated.
But that doesn't mean you can't stop racist language, since name calling is rarely protected political speech.
