Umm, it's not. The Catholic cheese made it the same time as a few pagan ones such as yule as an attempt to convert the pagans. However, it was all about Christ and not based on pagan holidays.

"In the early years of Christianity, Easter was the main holiday; the birth of Jesus was not celebrated. In the fourth century, church officials decided to institute the birth of Jesus as a holiday. Unfortunately, the Bible does not mention date for his birth (a fact Puritans later pointed out in order to deny the legitimacy of the celebration). Although some evidence suggests that his birth may have occurred in the spring (why would shepherds be herding in the middle of winter?), Pope Julius I chose December 25. It is commonly believed that the church chose this date in an effort to adopt and absorb the traditions of the pagan Saturnalia festival. First called the Feast of the Nativity, the custom spread to Egypt by 432 and to England by the end of the sixth century.

"It is commonly believed" is not evidence.

Yay! The unironic 13/50er has found one person who doesn't like Merry Christmas in 2020! Time to all become victims now! Libs: OWNED! Hell yeah!

Only the ones who don’t understand the origin of the word holidays. It think it is hilarious that people try to remove religious undertones by inserting a word derived from “holy+day”. But maybe that is just me. It is just like people who say, “X-mas” to avoid saying Christ when in reality to avoid persecution the early believers did that very same thing so much that the letter “X” became Interchangeable with Christ. But when people don’t understand the importance of studying history, these things are overlooked. Happy holidays!

yeah I read that part, but I assume you don't speak on behalf of all conservatives.

If you do, explain why this always seems to be an issue on Fox news, or when rumptard says "we're taking back christmas!!"
