PoliticsTOO has 4 mods. Contrary to what you may have heard, we’re not one uniform blob. We’re all different people with different perspectives and we all see things a little bit differently. Moderation isn’t always easy; it necessarily involves judgment calls that reasonable people can differ on. Some mods might be more inclined to hit that “delete” button than others. Other mods might try to give an explanation first. Other mods might simply ignore it, or engage in a bit of counter-debate/counter-trolling. There is an array of tools in the kit. There’s no secret master list of guidelines for what any of us should do in the infinite modding situations that we might find on this stream.
What makes us similar is that we’re all committed to making this stream the best place it can be, consistent with the stream owner and founder’s vision.
PoliticsTOO is a place for liberal content to get views and upvotes and attention and appreciation, since that hasn’t historically been the case on the main politics stream.
In other words, this stream is the hub of the liberal community on ImgFlip, and without it, that community would be fragmented or may not exist at all.
As I stated in my OP meme I would like this stream to be open to memers with moderate/conservative political viewpoints as well, as long as they’re respectful. But sadly we live in a deeply polarized time when cross-partisan insults and bickering is much more common than genuine dialogue.
Because this stream is explicitly politically liberal, the moderation of any arguments here between a conservative and a liberal (particularly a liberal with a history of good-faith participation in the stream) is more likely to be resolved in favor of the liberal. But again, let’s try to keep the bickering at a minimum.
I should also note that I mod other streams (e.g.
imgflip.com/m/Politics_Redux and
imgflip.com/m/political_jokes) that are explicitly politically neutral. And I spend a good deal of time on the main
imgflip.com/m/politics stream as well, though I don’t mod it.
Tl;dr Get out there and make some good political memes, refrain from trolling and derailment or be advised you’re subject to modding.
