I really don't see why there's such a big argument over Kylie. Out of all the singers that exist to hate, these boomers choose her for no reason besides the fact that a user that's on the opposite political party as them uses her in all of their memes

Can you think of any other singers, male or female, who have done more ridiculous or offensive things and/or are more worthy of ridicule?

Madonna, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, R. Kelly, Usher, Robin Thicke are a few that come to mind. Not that I’d ever set up an entire stream just to trash them because: why?

Out of 30+ years in the music biz, Kylie has been a class act. Pretty much everything they say about her on that stream is a total invention. (Small exceptions: It is probable she has done Botox like many entertainers and has had sex as an unmarried woman.)

But anywho. As you point out it’s not really about her, as they themselves have admitted on several occasions. It’s about a bunch of right-wing memers being mad at my political views, and their efforts to Karen me into either changing my memeing practices or leave ImgFlip.

What they don’t realize, I guess, is all that makes the argument that the KylieSUCKS stream constitutes harassment rather than “satire” a slam-dunk.

And yeah. Even as “satire” the stream crosses more than a few bright red lines.

When I saw the stream, it seemed like the only reason the stream wasn't taken down was that popular users owned it, including some community mods.

rn it's just them tying to piss you off until you snap back and get in trouble with the mods.

I could change my username to [insert 80's/90's female singer that leans left politically]_Fan[insert year I was born], comment more in the politics steam, and make a lot of templates based off of that singer and there would definitely be a stream saying I suck or the singer sucks.

That's arguing with conservative boomers for ya.

Something like that would not be tolerated on ImgFlip except for the active participation of community mods.

A hater of Ship-Shap’s actually tried to make a RoddyRicchSUCKS stream (true target: you-know-who) but it either got nuked or he thought better of it.

And yeah, if I ever snapped back and was even 1/10 as hateful in response you can bet my account would have been nuked.

That’s not how I roll. Pushing back on bullies without sinking to their level is tricky, but I aim to do it here because rolling over and taking it is also not the answer.

A genuine talent, no denying that. With obvious staying power and broad appeal.
