There is a difference between a Republican, a Trump voter, and a Trump
Supporter. I was only ever a Republican that stood behind State’s rights and minimal federal government.
I never saw past Democrat contributions and institutions as “threats” to our constitution, economy, or country. But I did see them abused or used politically and felt they were poorly run or needed tweaks to continue functioning past their expiration date. I only ever saw things like Affirmative Action as a potential threat and if you had asked me ten years ago, I would’ve told you it should be repealed. However, seeing racial tensions as high since the early 90s, I’ve scaled back my position to a slow withdraw of it based on state by state. A compromise. A dirty word among partisan politicians.
It is partisanism that I see as the main threat to our constituents, economy, and country. To my knowledge; Democrats have continued to hold their hand out across the aisle and have it slapped away while Republicans, a once united party with real solutions has dissolved into factions much as Democrats have. Where Democrats have conservative-moderates and socialists, Republicans have a few fiscal conservatives, Tea Party members, and Trump Supporting Yes-People. For the last four years, Tea Party and Trumpers were virtually the same. But now the Trumpers are evolving into whatever sensationalist news propaganda tells them to think. And fiscal conservatives have shrunk to the dozens. Either confused by the party’s motives or positions or they’ve become apathetic. Allowing partisan hacks of the Tea Party to run things.
A Trump voter from 2016 I can forgive for seeing Trump as a wild card. Worthy of the benefit of the doubt.
A Trump voter from 2020 is questionable. Perhaps seeing Biden as the worse option or wanting to see what more sensational things Trump will do. If they think Trump needed eight years to complete his promises, then they are delusional.
And that brings me to Trump Supporters. I see them as partisan hacks. Believing any lie that is good for Republicans or bad for Democrats. Hypocrites to what they claim the Democrats and the media to be. And I do share their concerns are the media’s slacking but the fact of the matter is, the media is always slack to a successful President. And I don’t see Trump as successful in the same way as his Supporters tend to do. They are fanatical and potentially dangerous. There is nothing fiscal about them.
