There’s plenty in Biden’s record to criticize: His handling of the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill hearings, his support for 1990s crime bills that led to mass incarceration, his vote for the Iraq War, arguably being too lax and lenient on corporate policy (being the Senator from Delaware, where a huge number of companies are incorporated, after all).
What’s interesting though is that all of these valid criticisms come from the Left. In other words, to the extent Biden fell short in his political career, it’s because he wasn’t liberal *enough.*
I’ve seen right-wingers parrot these criticisms perhaps not realizing that they come from the Left. Seems like they’re just reaching for anything they can in an effort to hurt the most prominent Dem at the moment.
Biden’s been criticized for his response to the riots this summer, but that’s a fiction: he condemned “riots” early and often. So did Harris. So did MLK back in the day. They all stood for peaceful change and reform.
Other than that, there’s the slanderous allegations of pedophilia which rely upon footage that shows typical politician conduct that used to be known as baby-kissing and which Trump himself has done multiple times. Biden was accused of sexual assault by Tara Reade, but Trump was accused 26 different women up to and including allegations of rape. Etc. Etc.
All of these criticisms lose their force when set next to the conduct of the most depraved President in modern history who will be leaving office Jan. 20, 2021 whether he likes it or not.
Biden’s stances on climate change, Covid, etc. are mainstream and in line with science. Biden doesn’t support banning fracking, that’s another attack that got shot down. Biden doesn’t support raising taxes on the middle class. He only wants the super-wealthy to pay more.
I’d be curious to hear a right-wing criticism of Biden that’s rooted in reality.
