For the first time, I'll agree with a post like this. I'm not anti-gun, but I feel like people need some sort of qualifications before buying guns, not just be over 18 or over 21. Take Switzerland for example, 1 in 4 people own guns, but their murder rate is almost 0 (There were 45 homicides in 2016 in Switzerland, compared to 17,250 in the US).

Switzerland has 8.6 million people as a population, America has 330 million, we have scores and scores of laws for people to own guns on the books already. I am a CCL owner, i had to go through a 6 month long background check and pay 1000 dollars to take a 16 hour (2 eight hour) classes on safety and basic use of the fire arms, what more should I have to do or pay to exercise my constitutional rights? How is the gang wars in switzerland? In Chicago two warring gangs make up 3000+ kills a year alone.

Suicide by gun? Maybe. But someone who really wants to kill themselves will just walk out in front of a truck or take some pills. 



Reducing the number of guns on the black market? Do you honestly believe that criminals will obey any gun laws that we create? By definition they do not obey laws.



Nobody is cheering for mass shootings. I have several “scary black” guns in my home as well as several handguns. None of them have ever harmed another human because, surprisingly enough, I’m not a criminal. I have no inclination to harm another person unless they force my hand. They can say whatever they want to me but the moment they break into my house all bets are off. Thankfully I haven’t been forced to do that.



At the end of the day you people can say whatever you want but it will require 2/3 House, 2/3 Senate, and 3/4 of the states to change it. Good luck with that.

And yet drunk driving is still a crime, and people keep dying because of it. The drunk driver gets in trouble, not some guy in the next town. It’s a vicious circle, you know. But you can’t legislate morals or common sense. Good people don’t drink and drive just as good people don’t shoot up schools. Why punish good people for Althea actions of bad people?

The number one way people commit suicide is by overdosing on prescription pills, and DRs hand them out like candy.. so there is no logic there to ban guns. If you look at the number of crimes stopped by individuals with CCLs they range (approx.) 500k - 1,000,000 a year , including stopping robbery, rape, assaults, and most other violent crimes.
