In the 1600's courts relied on "alternative facts". It's 2020 and the courts don't accept "alternative facts" anymore. Media and trolls thrive on it but courts and reality don't.

You also dodged the point that innocent people do get charged an convicted in modern witch hunts.

Of course innocent people get charged, convicted and executed because others have no problem lying.

No, not all witches confessed. Can't think of his name but the man crushed by rocks refused to confess. Have you been to Salem? The history there is palatable. The museum has letters that were written by the families of the victims and of the victims themselves. Not all of them confessed. Most did, but not all.
