America turns out students with largely useless degrees which make them unemployable...even at McDonald's because there you have to actually add and subtract....something that they are unable to do. They do make great disgruntled social justice warriors though....angry that the personal choices that they had made did not result in the fantastical but totally unrealistic and delusional salaries that they were expecting.... But then again creating SJWs was exactly what the American leftist universities were after....

I don't think there's actually a degree for underwater basket weaving. It is an art/craft class offered. The basket itself is woven wet or "under water" to keep the reeds soft and pliable. When it is finished it is left to dry and harden.

"Underwater basket weaving" is an idiom referring pejoratively to useless or absurd college or university courses and often generally to refer to the drastic decline in educational standards.
The term also serves as an intentionally humorous generic answer to questions about useless academic degrees such as Communication, women and men studies, diversity whatever, Advertising, music, creative writing, philosophy, communication, criminal justice, English as a major, most liberal arts, entrepreneurship and so many other useless degrees that will never get you employed but will leave you with a huge and unplayable financial debt......lots of anger and also lots of angry and useless unemployable SJWs. The only people who are benefiting from these degrees are universities and the useless and unneeded professors who teach these useless courses. Let us just look at the latter....learning entrepreneurship through a textbook....which is equivalent to watching a video on how to ride a bicycle without actually riding it....useless.

Okay. But why is criminal justice in your list. That is actually my current major (training to be a paralegal). I'm not paying for it, though. Going through a program at work.

That you are not paying for it should have helped to answer your own question....But let us pretend that you were paying....I believe that most people entering this degree are looking to become a detective, police officer, or like yourself, to enter law. If that’s the case, earning a degree in Criminal Justice may not be the way to go. According to the BLS, police officers and detectives are not necessarily required to have a degree beyond their high school diploma. This is because most of the practical knowledge is earned upon joining the academy through sponsored on-the-job training.

In your case, your goal is to enter law, but there are better degrees that will train you for getting into law school (It may be a tad different with paralegals as I do not know how rigorous their education is). One law school expert, Ann Levine, believes that Criminal Justice is not considered academically rigorous by major law schools. Instead, Levine recommends a degree like political science, that requires research, serious thought, and analysis.

Personally, I have had some cousins who had spent a great deal of money studying Criminal Justice with the hope of becoming police offices in Toronto. It did not help them, as they never realized that dream, and they are not stupid or dense people. All are doing hands-on careers now such as electricians.....and they are making a great deal more money than they would have been paid as police officers, and police officers are quite well paid in Toronto.
