COVID-19 is negatively affecting Trump's chances of re-election

The only thing mishandled was when the left decided to mandate masks.

You're thinkin' is stinkin'. COVID-19 was already rising before the mask mandates. It was only recommended by the CDC on April 3.By then, there were too many people, carriers, infected and passing it on. It wasn't because Trump didn't want to cause a panic. Instead, we have had nearly a quarter of a million deaths since January first. Yesterday, there were 1,248 deaths in the US alone. That more Americans dying each day than in any given month of the H1N1 pandemic that occurred during the Obama administration.But then, Obama had a game plan on how to handle a pandemic. Trump on COVID-19 said, "Who knew it could be so bad?" Uh, well, under the Obama administration, they revised the pandemic plan playbook that was originally developed under Dubya. That's right, Dubya! It seems, he had read about the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1919, and realized that it could happen at any time. H1N1 was bad, but the total deaths over a year came to 12,469. Oh, and let's not forget the Ebola pandemic. There were a total of 2 deaths from that, but then, there were only 11 cases in the US. caught and corrected quickly. Had Trump not tried to hide it, that line on your chart could have shown a lot less cases.

How does that compare to other places? India, with more than 4 times as many people and more densely populated areas, had 576 deaths yesterday. Imagine that.

We have 98 percent mask compliance. If masks worked we would not be getting worse. It's very simple logic. Keep blaming Trump though. It's clear countries in Asia did better because they used surgical masks. If everyone in the planet wore those we would be screwed. Cotton masks do not do anything period. Look at France or Italy or the UK. They have had masks mandated before us and they are getting wrecked right now.

As for India they aren't a bunch of fatties and they are a third world country so testing is probably limited. Flu is also less prevalent in India in general so when 24,000 people die here a year only 10,000 die there regardless of there population and density.

I shows the actual death rate starting to drop AFTER the mask mandate. A lot of places started easing the mask requirements around June, and you'll notice that the deaths started increasing again.With the mandates for masks easing, we may be looking at a death toll of between 425K and 614K by February 1, 2021, basically doubling the number of deaths that have already occurred. So far the data shows that masks have helped to contain it.

Thank goodness I'm seeing more people wearing masks now in the grocery store than I did last June. The number of parents with small infants had decreased at the stores, too. Not because of some drop in fertility rate (that's another subject) but because enough others care. Still, there are enough people that ignore it. Also around the time that the cases and death toll started to increase. Not limited to that.

Masks aren't the only thing that has helped keep the spread of the virus in check. Social distancing has done a really good job. Unfortunately, not so great for the economy. We were wondering how Trump was going to screw that up. Well, he that's the only thing he stayed true to form on. It took the Obama administration about 3 years to really bring unemployment under control, starting a downward trend in unemployment that went unbroken from June of 2011 up through

(2 of ?) I was beginning to think that Obama left the economy in such good condition that there was no way that Trump could screw it up. But Trump stayed true to his Republican predecessors and, by his actions, tanked the US economy. I pity the number of small businesses that have had to file bankruptcy because of this.

The funniest thing I've found about Trump's mishandling of the Novel Coronavirus is that the people that were being degraded 4 years ago for wanting a livable wage suddenly became "essential employees." Not just minimum wage employees, but all workers were suddenly essential to a company's ability to stay in business.
