I had not heard about this at all.
I do remember how Trump was roundly condemned when he suggested hydroxychloroquine might be a possible remedy. After that, any reports of hydroxychloroquine success were quickly "debunked".
As far as I know, hydroxychloroquine is cheap, effective and doesn't need to be stored at -94 F.
When I went to check sources for the Nicklaus quote, first I found the story at Fox:
