My great great grandfather got a leg blown off fighting specifically against slavery in the Civil War and lost everything sending our family into decades of poverty. It took until my father to finally break out into the middle class. No one in my family is a racist- family tradition I guess.

I am humbled. We can never say thank you to any of them. Just honor their memory.
If the descendants of slaves get reparations then, at a minimum, the descendants of those that died or were severely injured fighting for the North, if not all that served for the North, should get reparations as well.
