I would agree that the average democrat is just as fine (or not so fine) a person as the average republican. I'm talking about the vast majority of people who fall into the more moderate range of the political spectrum, be they to the left or right of the mid-point.
And, up until four years ago, if you met them IRL, you'd probably get along with them just fine, even if the subject of politics came up.
However, in the last four years, I think the average democrat has fallen pray to a media that has shifted gears from mostly telling the truth while not hiding their political views, to a media that lies most of the time in an effort to foment their political views and brainwash people into agreeing with them.
The problem is, a lot of people do not have the ability to take a step back and be objective about it, and realize what is going on.
