You say that like it's a bad thing.

Have you read history books about communism. Because you should read history books. Then again, with so much history being "revised," you may not even have the same idea of what has happened in Communist revolutions. Maybe we have different versions of what's happened.

In my heart, I'm a communist. In the real world, I'm a conservative. There are selfish, egotistical sociopaths who ruin everything, and they are never going away. So, being a Communist, while on paper it looks cool, never works in the way that you think it will... it has always been a power grab for the elite and always will be. It's an ideal that will never be realized. Gotta grow up someday, pal.

I have read books about communism, and the history of the Soviet Union. I would agree that the Bolsheviks and others that followed retained elitism for a small minority and established a dictatorship over the proletariat. This doesn't make me write off communism, it makes me write off Marxism-Leninism.

It doesn't take a genius to realize the Bolsheviks and other authoritarian communists have sabotaged genuine proletarian causes, and even reversed proletarian successes in Spain and Ukraine where anarchists managed expropriation, collectivization and self-management all on their own.

A better world is possible. We just need to erase the state and the wages system in order to achieve it. There's nothing childish about overthrowing your masters, and resisting the status quo.

This type of "better world" you're speaking of, is better in your opinion, and those who think like you. You still must exert some manifestation of "thought reform" to get "right thinking". And this is the problem with Communism. At some point you must exert your power over others to make them fit your form of "better".

With capitalism, you can choose your master. With Communism, there is only one - the state. Period. Where as now, our true power is with spending money (I am a minimalist), with communism, you have even less power. The only viable option is small egalitarian villages with limited services. The next best thing is free-market capitalism.

And even if I agree that a better world is possible, we can't even do capitalism right. We need full transparency in order to do it correctly. Once capitalism becomes "benevolent", maybe we could try the next step. In the meantime, competition makes us free-er than collusion. Without true benevolence - which there is ZERO evidence of people actually being that way - communism is a trap and we are the rats.

What authority are the Zapatista rebels in Chiapas bowing to? Or the Democratic confederalists in Rojava/Kurdistan?

Literally any ideology is going to require education to gain momentum. That doesn't make it evil. The only power exerted is that which has always been in the hands of the working class, it just no longer is directed to create profits at the whelm of the capitalists. Thanks for admitting by the way that capitalists are masters, that's hilarious.

Maybe understand that private property was imposed onto the masses, just like wage labor and capitalism, as a product of the state and private industry will always operate in conjunction with the state. Therefore, a free market is impossible and can never be realized.

Competition does not make people freer. The opening of markets (or the imposition of capitalism onto the developing world and the overconsumption that follows suit) has not made people more free. You can ask the people of Latin America. Competition and profit incentive drives men against each other, to act at the expense of others, when cooperation and collectivism bring them together and benefit everyone as a whole. It is logical for people to survive by operating communally and to sustain on mutual aid.

If you want to be a communist, go to the forest and live off the land with your own community. Capitalists, meanwhile, won't give a shit. You have the freedom to leave and go be communists somewhere. That's the freedom of the Capitalist system. It's a system of choices.

If I didn't want to be a communist in a communist country, where would I go to be a capitalist? I can only guess that it wouldn't be long before communists came and took all my shit. See how that works? All Communism can do is siphon off the value that capitalism produces; it's a parasitic ideology and needs to be buried in the f**king ground.
