If he wins, he gets 43 million in returns. He loses? He pays 100 million. That is why he is unable to release them at this time.

how does showing them change anything? He filed them, signed them and submitted them. They are static, they dont change.

No, he's being audited. Because he claimed that he was due millions in repayment from the Government. The IRS is auditing his taxes in an attempt to recoup that payment because they claim it was fraud.

And the IRS has said repeately that being under audit does not stop Trump from releasing his tax returns.

Because, as someone else said, they're filed. They're signed. They're done. Being in the public will change nothing.

As far as I have understood, the IRS is reclaiming the 43 mil. as they were paid back to Trump under false pretenses made by him.

Of course, Trump is challenging this since he's (officially...not accounting his various accounts abroad) never being able to pay this sum back (heard that he had accumulated more than 400 mils. in debt) even if he becomes Dictator for lifetime.

That would not only being his next bankruptcy (twice...don't forget Nov 4) but a criminal offense (not his last) which is mandatory punished with jail time.

He’s not in a lawsuit. He’s being audited. There’s no law stating that he can’t release his tax returns while he’s being audited.

As a matter of fact, if he’s on the up-and-up, it could only help him because he could use it to publicly pressure the IRS.

You know what the IRS is, right? It’s a branch of the treasury department headed up by a guy you might’ve heard of...Steve Mnuchin? And the head of the IRS, Charles Rettig, is a Trump appointee. So when Trump prattles on about being “mistreated” by the IRS, he’s being “mistreated” by his allies...maybe because his transgressions are so egregious that they can’t find a way to excuse them?

A five+ year audit is not normal.
