That analogy was less about the virus and more about your apparent disregard for human life. opening up will eventually remove covid but statistically 1 in 50 will die that is roughly 7 million americans. Lockdown isn't just about waiting it out for the killer to die it's about lessening the number of deaths while law enforcement studies the killer so they can stop it

Not sure where you got your stats but they are completely off. Who sees these stats and says yes it's worth it to shut everything down. We easily could have just used social security records, went back to the old retirement age for a bit and saved jobs, livelihoods and so much more but thinking critically is hard for some.

It's like having a serial killer of people over 60, everyone need not be protected.

What I am saying is that the economy matters BUT Trump is putting it before public health which should be a top priority in the midst of a pandemic. If a glass breaks and cuts a child which do you check on first. You check on the child and then you pick up the pieces of glass. Plus suicides caused by loss of job are only a very small percentage of suicides so the top priority should be keeping people safe from a much greater risk to public safety. I should have made this more clear but I don't believe that lockdown alone stops a virus. I believe in preventative measures like masks and hand sanitizing. The kind of lockdown I believe in still keeps essential businesses open and allows social gatherings to an extent but with masks.

Then here's an idea. Let *those people* take precautionary measures, and let the rest of us alone to live our lives. And, by the way, ultimately, the virus is just going to do what it's going to do. We could slow it's spread a little bit, but we're not actually going to stop it. It's not that kind of illness. So people are going to get it. They're going to get treatment. The vast, vast majority of them will recover, and life will go on.
