The difference with Trump, is that there is reason to suggest the claims made against him in what he says out of his own mouth. There is no confusion there. The only confusion remains is trying to guess whether he was "Joking" or he meant what he said, or is just a dumb ass. A well known trope of someone who harasses another or says something cruel would be to cover it up with humor when confronted about it. "I was only joking. We were just having fun, right?" As President, that's never a smart choice to wander that fine line. Just take a look at India. You know what "Least racist" means? It means you're still a racist. Least. Meaning, you still have racism in you. He didn't say "I'm not a racist."
