Hey what website do you get your misinformation from? I want to raise my child to be historically illiterate too so they can go around ignorantly posting memes with quotes from liberal Democratic supported newspapers who refer to 1860's liberal Democratic papers quoting him. Nevermind that this quote completely stands in complete contradiction to his actual track record.
Such as, I don't know, the Emancipation Proclamation, authored by yours truly, that literally made it illegal. Nevermind that most slaves didn't leave the plantation in South not because they weren't free, but because that was the only the skills they had at the time, so it simply took them sometime. Nevermind the actual fact that the reason the south lost was that they had better commanders but were actually economically poorer because slavery actually held them back economically.
And most of all, nevermind that the Democratic party was the party of slavery and literally left the union because Abraham Lincoln was elected president, and his platform opposed slavery.
