If you can't afford another family member to care for, place the child for adoption. In the US, babies adopted at birth have the entire medical expense of the hospital visit and all prenatal care paid for by Medicaid, so no financial burden is placed on the birthmother or her family, and it is an awesome process to complete otherwise incomplete families (like mine) that cannot conceive on their own.

And people like me (born to a single homeless, minority woman) get a chance at life :)

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't smoked anything since Independence Day, but that day I smoked about 26 pounds of meat so we're stocked up so to speak ;)

Either way, the problem isn't that abortion is immoral, the question is : What is the alternative? People are still going to want abortions, even if it is illegal. They aren't going to ask medical professionals to do that. They are going to hire gang members, or amateur surgeons, or cut out the baby themselves.

The problem with the way adoptions were (and sometimes still are) revealed to the people that were adopted is in the lying. Adoptions used to be looked at as something to be kept completely secret, and in fact the selection process for matching a baby with adoptive parents was literally picking a baby that looked like the parents so that it would seem as though the child was born to them. Adoptions today tend to be much more open. We have not hidden anything from our daughter, nor do we plan to. Any questions she may have we try to answer as honestly as we can. It is no secret that she was adopted, and sure she may have some struggles later in life as she learns who she is but that is completely normal. But, one thing is certain in that she will never be able to say she was living a lie or that she was somehow deceived. And another certain thing is that her upbringing is much better than what she would have had.

As to your last thoughts, yes there will always be a "black market" so to speak. There always has been and always will be but I don't think that is a good reason to keep abortions legal. I think the alternative is better assistance for expectant mothers.

Actually almost all maternal related deaths because of pregnancy or childbirth are preventable with proper medical care. The solution is preventing pregnancy (by not having sex if you really think about it) or just preventing the complications that might come from pregnancy. Killing the baby is not a solution.

I don't think the former is a valid reason for abortion, simply because adoption exists and there is strong demand. I do think the latter is a valid reason to have an abortion. Just like rape.

Did you know women can only get pregnant like a few days out of the month? Why not let women learn and understand the signs her body naturally gives that indicate she is fertile and could possibly get pregnant rather than killing an innocent person?

Abortion is not a basic need like food and water. Your focus in the meme is on the poor and on homeless people, so I offer you these thoughts: If a poor woman becomes pregnant and cannot afford to raise a child, in the US her medical expenses from the first prenatal wellness visit all the way to childbirth and hospital expenses will be covered by Medicaid, and she does not have to pay anything. As such, she can place her child for adoption, and part of most adoption processes include financial assistance for the mother even down to paying for groceries and rent or utilities. In placing her child for adoption, she gives her child a better life and also gifts tremendous happiness to a family (like mine) who is not able to conceive naturally.

To your thoughts on the homeless, why is the life of a homeless person valued higher than that of an unborn child? Both are created equally, both are human lives, and both have potential to do much good in the world. Would it not be better to offer unprejudiced healthcare to homeless women who are pregnant and save the lives of the unborn?

Here we go again with confusing socialism with a welfare state. Socialism is government control of the economy in general, industries in particular, and, oh yes, every other aspect of peoples' lives. Socialist (both fascist and communist) states have murdered over 100 million people in the 20th century, and it is still going on today.

Everybody likes to look at the welfare states of Europe as role models. OK, maybe they take care of people, but at a level of taxation we Americans wouldn't tolerate. And they have (mostly) free-market economies. The United States has taken on some aspects of the welfare state.

Miscarriages are painful for both the mother and the baby. Abortions are painless. What I meant is that people should be able to abort if they can't take care of a baby.

And there's really no comparison between a natural process after a baby passes away away in eutero from natural causes and ripping apart, burning or sucking the life out of a perfectly healthy baby (sound like it would hurt?) Even if liberals want to deny the psychological harm it does to a mother it's a reality. No woman can destroy the inner workings of her body that is specifically designed to bear life and violently end the life inside her and come out unscathed by the experience like she just had her tonsils removed. Any woman who says she's fine after an abortion is lying.

Yeah its painful. They give the child an lethal injection. They give this to prisoners, who commited very bad crimes. Death trials. Mainly you either get electric chair or the lethal injection. Most people choose electric chair because it hurts less

no abortions aren't painless. Abby Johnson had an abortion & she thought she was going 2 die from the pain. Ppl her clinic worked w/ saw potentially lethal problems happen all the time. I wouldn't even want an operation like that done on me if i were a pregnant woman b/c of what can happen. I'm a probability guy lol

But the pain of giving birth ends with the blessing of receiving a new child, so the pain is worth it.
The physical pain of an abortion might end, but the mental anguish may not without therapy. And no one goes home with a blessing after having an abortion.
