Who says everybody hates it? It's the basis of, or big influence on, much popular music. An entire sub-genre of rock/metal incorporates elements of classical.

I love it, but I don't like pieces that have been overplayed like Für Elise or In the Hall of the Mountain King

Eh, I don't mind popular ones (Beethoven's 5th for example).
Fur Elise isn't really one I listen to though.

Fur Elise is the last song my piano teacher taught me before he passed, and since its been so overplayed my father doesn't like it when I play it.
But now im teaching myself Moonlight Sonata. Ive played it before but now is a more advanced version

People areused to pop songs and rock and that sort of thing. To them, classical music is boring, and a waste of time. I play piano and I hated when I was told to play a classical song. Well my reason was cuz I wanted to sing along, but I guess that would count as well. But now I see how beautiful classical pieces are, and that they can convey so many different emotions and thoughts. If someone would just stop listening to the popular music these days, and listen to the classical music, but actually listen, they would likely love it.

Classical is for the intelligent.
