blackface was made by white supremacists to mock black people. to the right, is a black mime. mimes are street performers that had nothing to do with race.

So then, a white person can don darker make-up to portray a differing race as long as it is not demeaning? I don’t think it works that way, though. It will be seen as controversial and automatically demeaning. As another example, I remember a movie called “White Chicks” where sex & race were reversed.

The question becomes how far should we go in the other direction or if at all?
