There is a difference between patriotism and nationalism.

The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war. The nationalist thinks any and all criticism is wrong. Things like kneeling before the flag, criticizing past hero's for racism, tearing down confederate monuments, for example.

This difference, which has become so acute under this president, is what is turning people off to your point of view. America is not perfect and there is nothing wrong with admitting that. In fact, it is what makes a patriot a patriot.

You know, if you spent 5 minutes thinking about this instead of not thinking and countering with a nonsensical, meaningless response, you just might learn something.

Oh? And what is that difference?
