Well the NYT article itself later said he paid about 5 million over 2016-2017 then it screws up by saying alot of it was credit and that it 'was washed away' over an unspecified set of years... Well there's no circumstance logically where he can both simultaneously pay 5million to the tax office between 2016-2020 and only pay 750 a year..

Either he paid 5,000,000 over 4 1/2 years or he paid 750 a year, can't be both
