On September 11, 2011, there were unprecedented terrorist attacks made by al-Qaeda. They were directed against the government. At around 9:00, a plane hijacked by al-Qaeda crashed into the North World Trade Tower. At first, people didn't know it was a terrorist attack. But then, a second plane hit the South World Trade tower. Some people thought it was still just an accident, but most people knew it was an attack. Then, the 2 buildings collapsed after 1 hour and 42 minutes. Then, a third plane hit the Pentagon, the home for defense in the United States. Then, there was a fourth and final plane. People don't know whether they were heading for the capitol building (they're both in the same direction, but it would be disastrous for the US anyway). All we know is that brave passengers took back control of the plane (because of a voicemail a husband left his wife) and redirected it to an empty field in Philadelphia. 2,996 people (including the hijackers) died that day in those planes. I take my hat off for them.
