Because they don't know shit about the real world. It's one of many good reasons that most teens cannot vote.

yeah, but then they're taught the very same things in college, by the radically leftist teachers, & they can vote then. i wish they'd think about it tho. if they rlly want freedom, why r they promoting stuff that sounds rlly close 2 marxism, which is the opposite of freedom? it makes no sense.

Yeah it is a dangerous cycle. I came out of college as a liberal. I voted for Obama the first time, but not the second time. I am a staunch conservative now. Once I began to experience real life; i.e. paying lots of money to gubbermint for income and property taxes, etc....that's when I realized that this liberal utopia is impossible, and trying to achieve it is very harmful. I think a lot of college grads snap out of it, but there are tons of naive, ignorant college students who vote based on emotion and group-think. Basically, they are fools.

ik. my father once told me that someone once said, "I was a Democrat, until I got a job." & then there was another guy who said, "If you're 20 & not a Democrat, you have no heart. If you're 40 & not a Republican, you have no brain."
But yeah, that's true. responsibility & taxes should change a lot of ppl's minds. & yes, ppl do vote based on emotion & popular views. it's very very bad. & over 70% most of our youth is Democrat. hopefully they'll grow out of it.

I think lots of people get red-pilled when they start working in the real world.

Also, the educational system (at least "higher" education) is NOT getting better.

ikr? this is exactly one of the reasons i've gotten back in2 political discussions, even though i despise politics. i've waited 4 yrs 2 be able 2 say whatever i want & not b made miserable 4 it, only 2 find that ppl are demanding that be taken out of the country, & that day may nvr come 4 me. it's rlly sad.

Lack of perspective. I was kinda well-adjusted (as teens go) and laugh nowadays at all the crud I didn't know back then.

ye a lot of teens want 2 fit in w/ others. ppl gain more perspective later.

Yup. The problems with fitting into teen cultures:

1) Teen years fly by
2) It's rare that you interact with a bunch of people from high school after graduation
3) If you don't fit in at HS, you find like-minded people afterwards anyway
3 ups, 4y
ye. it's good 2 know ppl then, but it's rare that u'll know the same ppl.

Teens are rebellious by nature, so they resist the censorship of parents as soon as they are able to as young adults. That same mentality is what draws them to the left, as the left has always been the counter culture so to speak. Many will change their ways and shift to more conservative values though, as that tends to be a more comfortable place for many adults to find maturity in. Not that leftists can't be mature, that's not what I'm saying. Conservatives just seem to have a better grasp on practicality, which pairs up well with "adulting". Of course, I'm biased as an adult conservative, so feel free to break all that down for me too if you want! Just keep in mind that the think tank is for mature discussions, no schoolyard antics please...especially with regards to politics which is only a recently allowed topic of discussion on this particular stream.

ok sure u may have disagreements w/ ur parents, but that doesn't mean everything they say is wrong! i rlly don't understand why ppl act like that. but i do know that if all ur peers are leftist & ur parents r the only rightists, u'll gravitate 2ward what ur friends do, even if it's not rlly logical. i wish they'd teach logic in school & give both sides of arguments & let the students decide; between creation & evolution (instead of just teaching creationism is dumb & evolution is correct) & between liberal & conservative (instead of just teaching conservatives are vulcan egotists & liberals r the selfless, kind ppl [even tho they insult u & get u in trouble 4 not agreeing w/ them]). school systems need 2 b more honest... it would make the nation a MUCH better place.
yea, that's been true 4 a long time, but many nowadays are staying leftist, especially famous ppl in hollywood, where leftism is rampant. i understand what u're saying tho, & it's disturbed me 4 a while that ppl would stay on that side, if they're learning responsibility.
There's a guy who said, "If you're 20 & not a Democrat, you have no heart. If you're 40 & not a Republican, you have no brain." But yeah, that's how it tends 2 work. (although 4 some, who've seen both sides & evaluate which one works more, they'll skip the youth phase in that).

No, we're not :)

It's just something that people like to say in their little flame wars online. Lefties aren't all insane either, and I truly believe that the world needs all kinds to be balanced, it saddens me to see how divided everyone gets just based on politics...

Get used to it. There are plenty of conservatives that say the same thing about liberals too though so he probably gets it honest. Dont pay attention to the insults, just keep memeing and you'll be fine ;)
