I'm pretty sure force heal is older than that & older than the sequels. I seem to remember using it in video games from Lucas arts, and hearing about it in books.
I'm just going after Rian, cause I can.

I'm not criticizing Rian for force heal. I'm criticizing Rian (& by extension Disney) for trying to paper over Rey's story arc by making her more powerful than all the other jedi. She beats the villain with ease, repeatedly. She's automatically smarter and more powerful than Luke, with no training.
Force heal is just one more of her 50 new force powers.
As for picking on Rian, he's a snob, a self righteous prick & a vocal hater of star wars. So unlike JJ or Kennedy or Disney, it's open season on him.

The Lucas arts thing is correct. As well as other non canon games such as KOTOR (one of the force powers u gain is force heal) this game came out before the sequels. U can tell because of the bad graphics. What u r saying makes sense tho. Every other Jedi needed training (and discipline Star Wars rebels reference) before being able to even force lift stuff. Sure being a palpatine helped with some of that but other wise it is mostly plot holes. Fun fact that u may already know: George Lucas gave Disney a plot line for the sequels but they went rouge and didn't take his plot line. I now kinda want to see what lucas's plot line was

I agree with you. It would been very interesting to see the difference between the Lucas scripts and the movies we got. Maybe in twenty years after Disney gets sold to Apple! Hahaha 🤣
