Those things aren't even remotely socialism. Socialism is ownership of the means of production by the workers. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his work."

That’s the dictionary definition of socialism, but colloquially in the American context the word stretched and misapplied to encompass things like Social Security, welfare, progressive taxation, environmental protection, and darn near any left-of-center policy.

Heck even Bernie Sanders labels himself a socialist when technically he isn’t one.

My argument is any modern society needs these “pro-social” policies.
