I don’t think it says what you think it says. Gotta read between the lines — evidence supporting possible use doesn’t mean green light to go.

There are many people who swear they are alive today because of it.
To be effective it has to be administered within the first few days of symptoms. The VA study that did not show effectiveness was given to elderly patients who had been on ventilators. Another early study that did that show effectiveness was also determined to flawed. There are studies that show that it does work.
Chloroquine is safe. It has been given for decades to people for off label use with arthritis and lupus. These patients are not even monitored for arrhythmias. The only safety issue the drug has is if a patient has a history of arrhythmias – it can trigger arrhythmias. But so can too much caffeine.

During the Civil War, there were no placebo controlled double blind studies that show that amputations were affective in saving wounded soldiers’ lives from gangrene. But the physicians of the time routinely amputated limbs and people lived.

All patients deserve the right to have fully informed decision made in conjunction with a doctor. Withholding information regarding chloroquine, and not allowing a patient to choose it, is negligence, criminal negligence.

If you want to “wage total war” on COVID-19 then shut the F up and get out of the way of using chloroquine.
