Please, if you may. Take a seat, if you already in a seat, please listen. From the start, imgflip, has seen a variety of events. Toxic users and bullies are one such event. June of 2020 from what I have seen from my time on imgflip is that event, of toxic users and bullies. Then hierarchies of popular and non-popular users in July of 2020. All the other candidates maybe apart from Crate Of Memes (Check their speech out if you may), all talk about “I’ll make imgflip less toxic, or/and ensure equality for all users”, but they never talk about their plans to solve those problems. I’m writing this, in hopes that you understand my motivations, and plans to save imgflip from these hierarchies of popular and non-popular users, and these toxic ones. The two problems I stated in the 3rd and 4th sentences, especially the first, are still going around. Here is a solution for the first one: If you are being harassed by one of the many toxic users/bullies, just ignore them. 50 percent of the time, that’s gonna work, don’t fight back, that will just fuel the fire. If the harassment starts to get too much, get a mod, such as Olymp, they were made mods for a reason you know. Before we talk about my solutions, I think you should know why I want to fix these problems. I’ll keep it short so I don’t make you die of boredom. So, early 2018, I find this site. The community is really chill and laidback. I post a few memes then delete my account cause of personal reasons. Take a break from imgflip for a year, come back August 2019. Community is less laidback, but still chill. Post some memes, rarely go on imgflip for November-April. Then when I come back, imgflip’s commu nity is STILL degrading in chillness. A month and a few weeks pass, I come back to imglfip. Then everyone is in dissarray, flame wars are happening, and the community is more toxic than ever. Nothing compared to early 2018. Now since that little history lesson is done, time to present my solutions to the problems.

Solution 1 (Minor Problem)For Toxic People/Bullies:

Block them. It’s that simple. Seriously don’t fight back.

Solution 2 (Major Problem)For Toxic People/Bullies:

Just tell a community mod like a Olymp. They should sort it out if the user keeps on constantly harassing you.

For the hierarchies between popular and non-popular users. It’s a weird problem for me. As a middle class user: Neither popular or non-popular. A lot of these issues, are with people thinking that they deserve more(Comment limit)

for their work than the rest. If two users continuously fight, all they’re gonna be popular for is attacking users. I also think, the people who are calling themselves non-popular and getting mad at popular users, are a bit hypocritical as most of the time they have high amounts of points, I’m not gonna lie and say I have never gotten jealous at a popular user. I have, thinking I was deserved more, despite me having 900k points at the time... better than quite a lot of other imgflip users. What defines a popular user? Someone who can post a sh*tpost and get frontpage? Someone who is known by 80 percent of the community? It doesn’t matter, in the end, we are all imgflip users, no matter how many points we have. My simple solution to the hierarchies problem, is to just not be greedy, and selfish, thinking that you deserve more than the rest. Popular users, that goes for you too. If you vote for me, I will ensure these counter measures(solutions) will be used to help imgflip be restored to a chill and non-judgmental community. If I am indeed elected as imgflip president, I will not let you down on my promise to do my absolute best to help imgflip in any way possible. I know my Vice President will do the same.

Nice speech. I know what your talking about. I’ve been bullied before, and I just try to ignore them. I don’t block them, because it usually not that bad. One time (On another account I deleted) This guy use to BOMB my account with insults, etc. It (And some other things) was bad, so I deleted my account. Now I started again, not too many people. Like you said, it’s probably of jealousy.

Thank you for telling people about this. I’m sure this will not be a big problem in the foreseeable future. 2021? It’ll still be a minor problem, but it won’t be as bad.

I know it's a very long speech, but of course it's been more toxic and there have been more flame wars, especially the few last months. As for me, you and certain users, we work hard on our memes and not just trash post. Your stuff has very high quality to it and that's what I like about users who post high quality content and doing their best.
