In modern English: "If a man has had sex with another man, both did something terrible and must be killed". But killing somebody is not the same as hating them. If you simply killed them "because you had to"... then you did kill gays, but you did not hate them....
Yeah, that's playing the devil's advocate.... Damn... Perhaps that was a very awkward metaphor to use in this particular case.
