Reaction to the above nonsense found in “politics”: imgflip.com/i/4acf3b#com5372364

I read that story. As Octavia pointed out, that’s not her. This meme is total horseshit on that basis alone.

Here’s the link for you to verify. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/jun/16/instagram-posts/no-photo-doesnt-show-woman-george-floyd-allegedly-/

It gets worse though. Yeah, George Floyd was caught for this. He was sentenced. He did his time. He got out of prison and decided he would turn his life around.

He moved up to Minneapolis for a fresh start and hustled as a security guard and bouncer.

If you care to read more details about his life, they’re here:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-nw-life-of-george-floyd-biography-20200611-cxmlynpyvjczpbe6izfduzwv54-story.html%3foutputType=amp

He was laid off due to Covid (unfortunate situation many find themselves in these days), and allegedly turned to counterfeit money to make ends meet.

However, that allegation hasn’t been proven in a court of law for obvious reasons. He’s dead, chief. And while living people are theoretically entitled to due process (although in Floyd’s case, not in reality), dead people aren’t.

And yeah, he had a drug habit, but so what? Another thing far too many Americans struggle with.

None of the above, either separately or together, justifies Floyd’s murder at the hands of a cop.

Imagine thinking going to prison and doing your time for a crime makes you a permanently branded person for life who can be justifiably slain by the cops at any moment.

Our Founders had a different vision.

See: The entire f**king Bill of Rights you self-proclaimed “constitutional conservatives” love to selectively remember bits and pieces of.

The "State" didn't murder him...so WTF is your point?

BTW...autopsy has confirmed that Saint George the Floyd has fentanyl in his system. Fentanyl is known to cause respiratory problems(can't breathe).
Furthermore, police body cams show that 10 minutes before the cop put his knee on Floyd's neck, Floyd was fighting with the cops, and refusing to get in the squad car. And before the knee was on his neck, while fighting with the cops, Floyd complained about not being able ot breathe.
Saint George the Floyd had a long history of criminal behaviour, and while that doesn't mean he should have died or been killed, it does show that he wasn't some misunderstood victim, but a known criminal.

When they have a bone to pick with your assertion that Derek Chauvin was "the state." Ok bro. Who exactly enforces state laws? | POLICE OFFICERS ARE NOT "THE STATE" | image tagged in outstanding move, law, conservative logic, police officer, police brutality, conservative hypocrisy | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Civic lesson of the day: Who enforces the law? | WHO ENFORCES LAWS? SURVEY SAYS... | image tagged in survey says, law, police, police officer, education, educational | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Much as it'd be awesome to picture a society that was so free of crime that the task of law enforcement could be delegated to a single elected individual patrolling the entire state in a cop car, this is not feasible

However thank you for illustrating how badly the quality of basic civic education in our country has deteriorated

You know nothing about me and certainly nothing about how Government works

You asked me:

"Riddle me this

Who's responsible for enforcing state laws?"

And my answer still stands. The Governor is ultimately responsible, then the State's Attorney General.

The police enforce the laws enacted by the legislatures. If the State Legislaors don't want certain laws enforced, then they should rescind those laws they don't want enforced.

All your other irrelevant shit about Floyd's background, and the fact that he resisted arrest prior to being clearly and unequivocally subdued by no less than 4(!) arresting officers, has already been addressed.

This was not proper arresting procedure any way you slice it, as several PD's around the country have already explained.

Multiple system failures within the Minneapolis PD led to this catastrophe

Thankfully: People are now looking to reform the Minneapolis PD and other departments around the country so this doesn't happen again!

Nonsense. My shit is most relevent.

It has not already been "addressed" by a court of law.
The court of public opinion has been and currently is a Kangaroo Court presided mostly of total morons who know nothing about "LAW", and that includes YOU.

"This was not proper arresting procedure any way you slice it, as several PD's around the country have already explained." pfffft
Those "explanations" were given before ALL the facts had been ascertained.
And ALL the FACTS still haven't been ascertained and won't be until the trial has commenced.

The body-cam video is available on line, see for yourself that he fought the cops and was most definetly high on something.

The people of Minneapolis have been advised to not carry money, to surrender their cell phones and anything else a criminal demands from them and not to fight back.

All this because some asshole refused to cooperate.

Minneapolis is a DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED city and has been for DECADES. If there is "sytemic racism" in Minneaplolis or their police department, Democrats instituted that racism.

Indeed: Systemic racism is so widespread and pervasive that it even infects the mentalities of areas of the country and parties considered "progressive." In other words, systemic racism is an actual thing and not merely a lazy political accusation weaponized by Democrats against Republicans.

Mind blown yet?

Now

The assessment that George Floyd's death under custody has not changed. No new facts have arisen that would justify it. The only new facts that would make a difference would be if Floyd were armed or had otherwise placed the cops' lives in danger to the point that lethal force against him was justified.

He wasn't and he didn't.

The fact that Floyd resisted arrest was known very early on. However: Resisting arrest, "fighting with the cops," etc. doesn't meet the level justifying lethal force.

Tl;dr -- It was improper procedure from a policing standpoint and all that is left to be determined is the exact level of Chauvin's culpability (criminally negligent, reckless, or with deliberate intent), as well as the culpability of the accomplice officers.

I didn't attempt to justify his death. I merely stated the facts as I have received them.

The man was high on fentanyl and fentanyl is known to cause repiratory difficulties. He contributed to his own death. If the man had cooperated, sat down in the back of the patrol car as instructed, in all probablity, he would still be alive today.

Chauvin will get what is coming to HIM.

I am merely pointing out that the rest of the country is not to blame for his death, and consequently shouldn't be paying this exorbitant price for it.

you indicated: "Tl;dr --"

Apparently you did read it because you made this detailed response

You wanna watch the whole encounter beginning to end? Apparently the bodycam footage just leaked.

I have watched the whole thing and I stand by my ascertions. All the drugged up criminal had to do was obey the cops legal orders to get in the car and sit down. Had he done so, he would be alive, Minneaplois wouldn't have been torched, the BLM riots wouldn't have occured, and perhaps the Chinese Wuhan Flu would be under control by now.
0 ups, 4y
I don't always respond with the uncaptioned Picard facepalm: but when I do, it's justly deserved

Doubling down I see: how predictable

Ooh, that last one about the "Chinese Wuhan Flu" is a reeeeeal stretch

Continuing to refer to Covid-19 by a politicized invented term (two of them, no less) is a strong suggestion of just the opposite
