The vast majority of Americans only know the first verse. And I doubt F.S. Key ever intended it to be played at ball games.

So what, it’s been the anthem for over 200 years. Ban the 3rd verse if you want no one hears it anyway.

Wrong. It wasn't made the National Anthem until 1931. So it's not even been 100 years.

Wasn’t Officially Made the national anthem until 1931 but was used in practice as such for much longer. The military used it at the raising and lowering of the colors prior to 1900 and it was a northern patriotic song during the civil war. Doesn’t matter it’s been long enough.
