Um . . . so? The size of the average small town in Texas matters? How about the fact that New York and California -- both controlled by the Dem Party -- have each had massively more kung-flu related deaths?

New York's 440k cases is 2.2% of their population - herd immunity requires >60% of the population contract, recover, and develop antibodies, and we don't know how long those last for COVID-19 yet or if herd immunity is even possible.

Theres plenty that can be done - look to pretty much any first world nation not currently run by an abject moron and you'll see evidence of such.

It's only inevitable if 200,000,000 Americans contract and recover from COVID-19, which us not just utterly unnecessary to eliminate the virus, it's also the stupidest and most dangerous possible means of doing so.

If and when a vaccine hits we may be able to eradicate it like we did with Measels and Smallpox, but until then it's all a game of how many of us are expendable.

The Flu vaccine is actually a great analog - before a considerable portion of our population started getting those annually, flu deaths were an order of magnitude higher than they are now.

1918 pandemic, 50m dead
1957 pandemic, 1-2m dead
1968 pandemic, 1-2m dead

Covid will likely overtake the latter two this winter - question is whether we'll take 2-3 years before we take steps to eradicate the virus like they did 100 years ago.

Nonsense - vaccines don't eliminate anything, they provide a weakened form of the virus so your immune system can develop antibodies without having to fight the disease at the same time.

The problem with influenza is there are several distinct strains that each mutate quickly and it's allowed to run rampant within our population. If we actually locked down for a month with zero mobility and interaction (unreasonable of course) we could entirely eradicate it. Same goes for COVID - starve it of vulnerable hosts and it dies out.

Welll yes, after Cuomo/Deblassio and Newsom killed off tens of thousands between them. It helps if the Dem Politicians pick off the vulnerable demographics first with their murderous Covid-19 policies. After that, all that are left are the hardy survivors.

Another day, another stark difference.

NY & NJ - 20 deaths
TX & FL - 551 deaths

And of course we now know that the Trump administration buried testing capability early on because the virus was disproportionately affecting blue states and they thought that was acceptable.

Golly, you mean the two largest cities in the USA have had more deaths that small tumbleweed towns (we call those neighborhoods here) in Texas? Yup, must be the Democrats that done did it!
