Consider the fact the only about 50 percent of the population actually votes. If given the inclination if you might get some of them to vote I'd wager there would be a mix but most people if asked and this bears itself in wide polls, most people want benefits from society, its called taxes and pays for things like roads cops and yes even your government at many levels. If the political world could get its head out of its ass and modernize like every other industry while keeping representative democracy that satisfied the needs of all its citizens the country and the world would be a much better place.

Technically yes there were 'conservatives' on both sides however consider conservatives are usually associated with economic interests and liberals are usually associated with advancing progressive agendas. Whats interesting is that most people don't define themselves purely along those lines, most people appreciate a balanced approach otherwise is purely unfair to some and only benefiting others.

mama used to say you reap what you sow, so look on the bright side of life and count your blessings. There is something wrong with the world when folk get rich in the stock market hedge fund racket. If 'they' put all that effort into making systems and society better just think how better off people would be. perhaps naive to think that would even be possible in this day and age but that approach is what catapulted the human race at various times in history with feats of insight of all kinds to improve society, while war plainly served unjust masters. This is a mere blip of human history and the future will judge us by how we approached the situation.
