with this guy, I think it's shame. Not shame for what he's doing now, but the shame that he was sculpted from by his father. He's a complete idiot and he knows it and he's doing everything he can to hide that shame from his dad.
That's what all that "you're a baby" and other degatory nicknames come from- that's how his dad treated him.
