I've been doing really well. My younger cousins from the other side of the country came to visit this week so that was fun!
How about you?

Ah, that's great! Wonderful to have extended family visit from time to time.

Me, reading bad news has cast a bit of gloom for me today. Violence is increasing on the streets, there's no sign of a decrease in Covid, and all the while hoping that Christ would come soon

Mmm, yes, it can be a bit disheartening at times. I don't really believe that these are the end times myself. Look back 100 years ago. The world was plunged into the worst war up to that point and possibly ever, Communists were taking over Russia and I'm sure the Red Scare had started already in other places, and one of the worst pandemics ever, the Spanish Flu (far worse than Covid), was taking off. I say all that to say that this isn't entirely new. God's still in control and He's gotten us through worse. We have to pray and trust in Him really.

I'm impressed, you know your history! Yes, you're correct. It's admittedly very easy that the end is near.

it was a lot darker then; you've mentioned WWI and the Bolshivek Revolution. With that, there was after the war, the 1918 Spanish Influenza. Two months ago I was reading about it and it killed 70 million people all over the world. Those were dark times indeed. What we're facing now is a mere pin-prick.

Yeah, and there were a lot less people back then too so it would be even worse with today's population. But I learned about the Spanish Flu first semester in history. It was very interesting, especially considering that I hadn't heard of it at all before.
But I don't think I'll ever think it's near the end times until I start to see the serious beginnings of a one-world government.

Good point. What about the Great Apostasy? Europe virtually has abandoned the Christian religion, the church no longer has influence in America; more and more people are having their ears tickled by heretical teachers like Joel Olsteen.

That's true. I wouldn't say the world is in a good place from a spiritual standpoint. And yeah, even in the church there are a lot of problems. I'd say we're in dire need of a third Great Awakening cause the way we're headed doesn't look good.

I'm hoping for that too.

One thing you reminded me of, Matthew 24 Jesus said that there are wars and rumours of wars, earthquakes and pestilence, but these are mere birthpanges. We haven't actually reached that part yet.
2 ups, 4y
That's probably the main driving force behind my thinking. This is nothing new and Jesus already said people would be thinking it's the end times.

mm yes, I think i got the word, Birthpanges, from the NASB.

Be that as it may, we're not quite there yet.

I got that quote wrong, "... the beginning of sorrows," I'm using the KJV

Here's the full text:

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

The next series of verses say:

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

Oh, I didn't catch that cause it says birth pains in the NIV and I use that
