There is no cause of action to sue for reparations; Congress would have to creat one
And I don’t think Congress would be inclined to classify deceased slaves as “products,” even retroactively.
Congress could in theory pass a law allowing American citizens to sue other countries for reparations —
However, then you would have to enforce those judgments against the slave-procuring countries and that would go over like a bowling ball
Those countries would rightly point out that the profits from hundreds of years of slavery were earned right here in America, or just shrug their shoulders and give the legal equivalent of a f**k-you
Trump’s Presidency has shown it is virtually impossible to get other countries to pay for your shit no matter how loudly and obnoxiously you insist on nonsense like “Mexico will pay for the wall”
So, sorry. Americans are going to be on the hook for reparations if and when a reparations bill passes.
And will cost trillions of dollars to give descendants of slaves the 40 acres and a mule that was promised: $6.4 trillion at least
