All of us have reached to the point of hopelessnessl depending on the situation. Your daughter or your son I know you would want them to live.

Suppose all hate them, for valid or invalid reasons. They may feel utterly useless, wasting valuable air, etc, you would have told them that no matter what, never give up on life. They will alway have you, and you will always have them.

If they are hated, and all have abandoned them, they can still do something.

And thaet is key. THEY ARE NOT USSELESS.

They can make amends, make a difference in someone's life who they don't know; start giving charitym, etc. But they cannot make any sort of difference, if they kill themselves.

And when they do, they have just denied the invaluable help they could have given to people.
