Do you understand the words "the police aren't allowed to murder people"?

Do you understand that justice is a process, not a result? It’s a process to get to the truth. It’s not instantaneous, as some people might demand.
There are times when the truth does not turn out to be what you want it to be.

And that also applies to the quasi-police in Seattle and Atlanta who in cold blood murdered two teenagers

Ah Casablanca.

It's the old, old story.
Droid meets droid. Droid becomes chameleon. Droid loses chameleon, chameleon becomes blob, droid gets blob back again. It's a classic film. Always makes me cry.

Do you understand that the words "Black lives matter" are not implying that all lives don't matter?

Do you understand they are preferential?

Do you for that matter understand that they are being used to divide the American people among themselves, for political reasons?

Do you understand that Western society has been preferential, that it has divided the American people among themselves, for racist reasons. Do you understand that although much has been done to combat this, we have not yet reached equality?

Yes. And I understand that you are working hard to perpetuate this.

Yes, we are working hard to perpetuate equality; It's incredibly important.
Anyone who continues to deny that racism is an ongoing problem because they either don't like being made to confront anything that pushes them out of their comfort zone or is acting defensively because they feel like their privilege is under attack and that they are being accused of something they don't feel responsible for needs to stop listening to hyperbolic right-wing rhetoric and start thinking critically.

You can't combat racism by being exclusive. You can only combat it by being inclusive.

Also, you don't combat anything by rioting and looting and burning down property. That's how you push people away from you.

I will gladly take part in a peaceful protest against police brutality and racism. I will not take part in a violent riot, and I will not use it as an excuse to steal from innocent shopowners.

You guys are shooting yourselves in the foot.

Asking for attention to be drawn to people that are systematically being treated badly is exclusive? If you're in a hospital with a non-urgent injury and someone who's critically ill is rushed in and treated before you, do you complain that the hospital are being exclusive? That they are creating division? Don't all lives matter? Why should that person get attention first?
People don't start off rioting, it it comes a long time after peaceful protest and civilised appeals are ignored. It's not a first port of call but it has demonstrably been an effective one, the riots have raised awareness.

I don't think we should ever have been in the situation where people felt that desperate.
It is the refusal of people with white privilege to accept that there is inequality and to tackle it that has led us here.

People taking part in peaceful protest against police brutality and racism have been brutalised by the police whilst protesting. Is peaceful protest enough when that is able to happen?

"It's not a first port of call but it has demonstrably been an effective one, the riots have raised awareness."
Yeah awareness that it's not been an organic protest it was always planned to go into action once the precursor event happened and that the people perpetuating the protesting and coordinating with the other parties to rioting and discord have no interest in equaity for blacks but are using it as a trojan horse to try and bring communism too America. That sums it up.
0 ups, 4y
Where's your evidence that it was a planned action? What's your basis for saying that the purpose is to bring Communism to America?
That sounds like the sort of thing Jordan Peterson argues, he is known for conflating post-modernism with Marxism, it's nonsense.
0 ups, 4y
It has raised awareness? You bet!

If you draw attention to yourself through vandalism, theft, arson, and violent assault, then you will reap what you sow. And you will deserve it.

That is not my doing, I'm just telling you.

I will join a peaceful protest. I will not join what amounts to a bunch of thugs and plug-uglies and thieves who just take the opportunity to help themselves to free TV sets and refrigerators.
