Amen, and the idea that Galileo Galilei is proof of that notion, isn't

Yes, the Papacy punished Galileo for his discovery of a Heliocentric model but at that time, Geocentricism was the accepted science model of our solar system. The bible never spoke of either one so the fact that the church accepted the Geocentric model championed by Aristotle is not done because the Bible supported it.

The Papacy was wrong to persecute the man, but that is not an example of the church opposition to science.

Mmm, I've never heard of that. What I did know was that Galileo was ordered to stop spreading his discoveries and recant it. He did not, so he was jailed for it.

If Galileo did that, well, that's not a very wise thing to do.

Even those who just merely claim that the church was opposed to the idea of heliocentrism cannot explain why Kepler never faced persecution.
