Depends on the context... We can all agree that you did a bad job when you say 1+1=3, and a good job when you say 1+1=2.
I guess you are more opting in the terms as good and evil, and then I can say that the terms have very little to no meaning at all, since that always depends on where you stand.
If you mean it in the context of artistic quality, then we get to the point that what we find important. In a fantasy story, are you more for the world building and the background lore, or more for direct character development and mysterious plots that turn out different from what you may expect? In a song are you more into the depth of the lyrics or more for the catchiness of the melodies? Must a painting be realistic and hard to tell apart from a photo, or should it defy reality completely?
The words can be in a certain way be used in an objective matter. If crisis strikes your country, but your government manages to come up with a measure that saves jobs and increases the economy in all ways even better than it was before, then we got a good measure. Of course, if this measure only makes the misery worse than it already was we got a bad measure.
A little rub here is that measures to save economy are very dependent on how people respond to them, as some good measures can be misunderstood and therefore be distrusted leading to a bad outcome, so this is a bit debatable....
In science you always must wonder what result you want to produce and what kind of side effects you want to avoid. Good and bad will then have a relative meaning as what methods provide the good results, which is the result you wanted with as little unwanted (preferably none) side effects. In science terms like that are often used in a relative matter. "Cold fire" is not as hot as "hot fire", but still over 200 degrees Celsius, which is too hot for a human to survive when exposed to that. It's just that for "hot fire" the number of degrees is MUCH higher. But then again, an Eskimo will complain about hot weather when an Arabic complains about the cold with the same temperature, so the terms are subjective, but usable in relation.... Subjective terms are in science often used in a relative matter or based on the results that are wanted. Good and bad, do then also fall in that category.
The terms have their use though.... Things cannot be really expressed without these words. One must always be careful how much value is placed on them, depending on the context.
