The story behind this already-classic meme.

The story behind this already-classic meme. | You've probably already seen this instantly-memeable photo of a rather plain-looking St. Louis couple "just defending their property"; that has a lot of anti-BLM folks defending them. But what does this image obscure? that the couple lives in a freaking mansion. on a so-called "private street" where home values routinely top $1+ million. that they, particularly the woman, were being extremely belligerent. DESPITE THE PROTESTORS MAINTAINING THEIR DISTANCE. THAT THE MARCH THROUGH THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD WAS TOTALLY PEACEFUL. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: THAT THEY HIRED THIS ABSOLUTE GEM OF A LAWYER TO REPRESENT THEM. if you're inclined to Google this attorney and his firm, prepare to be amazed at his zeal for shameless self-promotion, the likes of which would make even Donald Trump blush. | image tagged in mccloskey,al watkins,st louis couple mccloskey,st louis couple mccloskey protest, black lives matter, memes about memes | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

What's wrong with living in a mansion? And do you really wanna call destroying and breaking through a wrought-iron fence peaceful? The only reason they kept their distance was BECAUSE of the guns.
But who am I to base my thinking on reality and logic. Happy Independence Day!

Reality and Logic to a libtard is a construct of white privilege.

It’s always wrong to wave guns at peaceful protestors. The fact the McCloskeys lived in a mansion is just icing on the cake. | NOTHING WRONG WITH LIVING IN A MANSION ALL THEIR NEIGHBORS MANAGED TO BEHAVE LIKE DECENT PEOPLE AFTER ALL | image tagged in captain obvious, protestors, black lives matter, blacklivesmatter, karen, omg karen | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
But living in a mansion while waving guns at people marching for rights?

Too easy a layup to pass on

riggghhhhht, who's gate got bashed through again? Oh that's right, theirs'. And why is that supposed to be a layup? It has nothing to do with anything.

It was a gate, but it wasn’t their gate. They had no more standing to complain about it than anyone else on their block.

And yet: 38 neighbors condemned the McCloskeys

Interesting stuff

You think I care if their neighbors condemned them? There was a violent mob trespassing on their property and they stood up to defend themselves. That's it, period, end of story.

"interesting stuff"

The mob/march/whatever-you-wanna-call-it wasn’t violent. Nobody was killed, nobody was injured, no stuff was taken, nothing was burned.

The only damage I’ve seen anyone point to is the gate.

You assert that you don’t care about the neighbors, perhaps not realizing that the neighbors don’t care that you don’t care that they don’t care about the gate.

However, the fixation on the fate of the gate could propel the start of a new movement.

#GateLivesMatter

Or perhaps the McCloskey affair will simply go down in history as #GateGate

I don't care how "peaceful" you claim these protesters were, they broke onto private property and when were told to leave, they refused and even threatened the homeowners.

We all, as Americans, have the right to protect ourselves, our families, and our property from those wishing to destroy it. If that means protecting them with a show of strong force, then that's what needs to be done. The "peaceful" protesters had no right to break onto someone else's property and the fact you think otherwise, is sad.

First off, the gate wasn’t protecting anyone’s property. It was a passage to a so-called “private street,” and the protestors were going specifically to the Mayor’s house which was on that street.

Why?

There is even more of a backstory to this protest that you may not be aware of.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/06/29/us/st-louis-mayor-police-reform/index.html

Just a couple days prior, the Mayor had read aloud the names and addresses of St. Louis-area police reform protestors at a press conference.

Names. And. Addresses.

You don’t have to be a BLM supporter to see how that was wrong. It was totally improper for the Mayor to do that and, arguably, intimidation.

So, a peaceful march on the very place the mayor herself lived was totally understandable, justifiable, and appropriate.

And as it turns out, they got incredible footage of a freaked out Karen/Ken couple along the way.

And as it also turns out, the sole casualty in this entire drama was a gate.

Boohoo

I nominate this as the single most successful and impactful BLM protest in history to date.

#GateGate indeed

I know about the story. And the gate had the words "private property" on a sign. That means, unless you are invited in, you stay out. They had to break the gate to get in, which also means you aren't welcome in.

I don't care what the mayor said or did, they were on this couple's property and the mob threatened to kill them, their dog, and burn down their house. Getting a couple guns waved in their faces should be the least of the mob's problems.

Keep condoning the violence. We all know how you feel about anarchy and violence if it's for "a good cause." It's disgusting.

That gate is the least of that couple’s worries now

Do you condone Boston Tea Parties?

I wouldn't expect you to understand anything about the Boston Tea Party and what it represented.

Never said I don't care about the neighbors, I just don't care what they think.

And I wonder why no-one was injured and nothing was burned. Hmm, maybe it was because people actually stood up to them.

Interesting stuff

The joke being that, remarkably, the couple hasn't even been charged with anything yet, apparently, though I imagine there's a high chance that might change

tl;dr: These are the most heavily-armed Karens that I ever did see.
