This explains all the times I see memes in “new” and they all have 1 upvote down the line.

I would got to the ”new” one a lot just to give them an upvote for having a good meme. I know how hard it is to make a meme that everyone will like and upvote

You don’t just upvote them because they’re new, do you?

It’s impossible to please everyone and make a meme everyone will like. Someone’s going to downvote or dislike. Just look at YouTube.

The real question is how to become popular...

I think people with more followers gain more and more followers and points over time.

Except that following someone only became a thing late last year, so users like Raydog didn't get popular by other users following him. He got popular because he made good memes and stayed away from political fighting.

Just make good memes that a lot of users like and be nice to others and you'll get more attention. And it takes a lot of work to get the points. I mean, maybe not as hard today as it was when I started, but it still takes some time.

I think the time you spend on a meme doesn't matter as much as the quality. if it's quick but very funny and original that is fine. quality matters not time spent.
