Dawkins words were "religion flies you into buildings"; he didn't make that distinction between religions he just tarred all with the same brush. He also never used the words "research", "innovation" or "technology"; I repeated the entire quote. It was only Muslim terrorists who carried out 9/11 attacks. Not Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Scientologists, Taoists... you get the point.
Plus the religious views of Buzz Aldrin didn't hinder his mission (he even became the first human ever to perform a religious activity somewhere besides on planet Earth - he took Communion on the Moon).
