Those who destroy history, rather than learning from it, are bound to repeat it. These statues are a lesson from our past. We cannot learn from our mistakes if we merely erase them.
The removal of any historical artifact should be prefaced with an honest discussion of what was wrong with the history that led to it's erection and what it is that you are making room for (how tearing it down will lead to progress). Not a mere screech of "it offends me"

Most of the progressive "heroes" of the past engaged in serious misconduct in their private lives, which the Left is never taught about. When some do find out, they don't seem to care...as long as you supported a "progressive" cause in your life, all your "sins" are absolved and the entire establishment will bend over backwards to protect your legacy. Even still, you don't get to single out statues that you don't like, then take them down without engaging in the legal process to do so. So from now on, for every one statue that progressives want to take down, then conservatives should be able to take one down too (just to be fair). When you engage in mob activity, and try to excuse vandalism and destruction of property, you only prove your detractors correct. You can't engage in rational discussion and you don't really want the actual problems facing our country fixed. What you really want is power and to shame others so you feel morally superior, which goes to show that you are anything but.
