Plot structure is badly hampered since it keeps cutting away to details about lineages and legal systems. Character development is inconsistent and it tries a bit too hard to be preachy, especially problematic given its numerous language barriers. Overall, suffers a lot from changes made by the editors and lack of creative control for the authors.
Not to mention two not entirely identical books (Judean and Israelite) cobbled together giving at times contradictory details (ie: David slays Goliath and cuts his head off; David approaches Goliath's body already slain by someone else and cuts his head off) as well as omissions leaving some stories hanging (ie: Lilith).
Then there's the NT compiled to suit an agenda (Roman) which fits with the OT like Stephen King (ugh) adding to the collected works of Edgar Allan Poe.
