Misleading.
Ironically, hypercapnia may be treated with a medication and MASK-based non-invasive ventilation or with mechanical ventilation. Most masks that are being worn by those trying to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and medical doctors are made of breathable material. They are not designed to prevent one from catching the disease so much as asymptomatic persons who may or may not have it from giving it to people who are more susceptible.
The kind of masks that can commonly cause hypercapnia are scuba masks and various re-breathing apparatuses. Which are not even remotely of similar design for medical masks and rewashable cotton-masks. It is also not recommended to reuse throw away masks, especially N95 masks, as the fibers can eventually be blocked by dirt and dust which can be harmful to the wearer but not cause them to breath in enough co2 to cause hypercapnia.
