The general sense of discontent is the lack of awareness that bad decisions frequently lead to bad results.

People have a tendency to expect the entitlement that market and social forces should adjust to them, rather than the other way around.
This is why we have poor people in bad neighborhoods having multiple children, people racking up $500,000 debts for media study qualifications, people amounting mass monthly expenditures of finance/credit/contract debt to the point that nothing can be saved, and minimum wage workers living in some of the most expensive cities in the world... All of which expect things to work out well, then being dissatisfied when they don't..

Nothing will change until people do, and all the looting, rioting and pressure build up will accomplish nothing because things will just carry on as usual immediately afterwards .

No, it's becuase they're more aware of the machinations of power than you are. They are closer to it than you are. They can pin it better than you can. But when they try to express it, you speak instead of listen, as if your voice matters more than theirs. And that is why.

Also only humans have a natural instinct to do things that are bad for them. Animals don't. All of their instincts tell them to do things that continue the survival of the species.
